PROJECT: ST. VINCENT
According to
Film Music Reporter Theodore Shapiro has signed on to score
the upcoming coming-of-age comedy drama St. Vincent. The movie
is directed by Theodore Melfi and stars Bill Murray, Melissa
McCarthy, Naomi Watts, Chris O'Dowd, Terrence Howard and Scott
Adsit. The movie follows a cranky war veteran who becomes an
unlikely mentor to a 12-year-old boy whose parents have
divorced. Melfi has also written the screenplay, which was
black listed in 2011 under the title St. Vincent de Van Nuys.
Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Heat) is
producing the Chernin Entertainment production with Fred Roos
(The Outsiders, The Black Stallion). Don Cheadle and Kay
Liberman (House of Lies, Traitor) are executive producing the
project for Crescendo Productions.
December 3nd, 2013:
ALBUM: THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY Sony Classical will release Theodore Shapiro's
score for THE SECRET LIFE WALTER MITTY on December 13th. So
far download only release has been announced but it still
possible that physical CD will follow later (or at least CD-R
on demand) or will be released in other territories. You can
already pre-order the download only edition on
Amazon.
UPDATE:
As
expected Sony Classical will release the score album as
pressed CD in Europe on December 23rd and you can pre-order
your copy from Amazon.

SATELLITE NOMINATION: WALTER
MITTY
Theodore Shapiro has been
nominated in Best Original Score cathegory for Satellite Award
for his score THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY. The award
ceremony will take place on March 9th in Los Angeles. The
other nominees in Best Original Score category are: - Arcade Fire: Her - Alexandre Desplat: Philomena - Steve Price: Gravity - John Williams: The Book Thief - Hans Zimmer: Twelve Years a Slave

ALBUM :
ONE CHANCE
While the CD and download version of the
soundtrack album available in Europe features various arias
only, the U.S. release of the soundtrack also includes two
cues from Theodore Shapiro's score: Moment of Truth and Venice
(combined total time roughly 5 minutes). The album is
currently available on iTunes only and the CD version will be released on January
7th, 2014. More information available here or you can already

SINGLES: STAY ALIVE and STEP
OUT
Two singles Stay Alive and Step Out, composed by
Theodore Shapiro and Craig Wedren (performed by Jose
Gonzales), were released earlier this month on iTunes and will
be also included on the upcoming soundtrack album
THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY, which you can pre-order here. The CD will be
released on December 17 by Universal Republic. Both
singles are available on Amazon (here and here). Step out was
also included in the film's trailer. So far there is no word
about the score album
release.
September 6th, 2013: NEW PROJECT: INFINITELY POLAR BEAR
Theodore Shapiro has signed and
is currently working on the score for upcoming comedy
INFINITELY POLAR BEAR, starring Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana.
The movie marks the first feature directed by
writer/producer Maya Forbes (The Larry Sanders Show, Monsters
vs Aliens) and tells the story of a manic-depressive mess
of a father who tries to win back his wife by attempting to
take full responsibility of their two young, spirited
daughters, who don't make the overwhelming task any easier.
Infinitely Polar Bear is currently in post-production and will
be released in 2014.

TRAILER: ONE CHANCE
Theodore
Shapiro completed his score for latest David Frankel movie
earlier this summer. Inspired by the true events, ONE CHANCE
tells the story of Paul Potts, a shy, bullied shop assistant
by day and an amateur opera singer by night. Paul became an
instant YouTube phenomenon after being chosen by Simon Cowell
for 'Britain's Got Talent.' Wowing audiences worldwide with
his phenomenal voice, Paul went on to win 'Britain's Got
Talent' and the hearts of millions. The movie stars James
Corden, Julie Walters, Mackenzie Crook and Colm Meaney. The
Weinstein Company will release the movie later in 2013 and
it's currently set to be a part of several film festivals in
U.S. and Europe, following its premiere at Toronto Film
Festival earlier this month. Unfortunately just like in the case of
several recent projects scored by Theodore Shapiro (THE
CAMPAIGN, HOPE SPRINGS, WE'RE THE MILLERS), the movie is
sparsely scored and includes approximately 25 minutes of
original music only - the score release is therefore again
unlikely. You can watch the trailer below.

Not too many news to report these days...
only trailer for the upcoming THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY
was released recently and you can watch it below. 20th Century
Fox will release the movie this Christmas and soundtrack album
is in the works. Speaking of upcoming albums, although some
sources suggest that WE'RE THE MILLERS soundtrack should be
released in less than 2 weeks by Water Tower, so far there is
no official confirmation yet. Hopefully more news will be
available soon.

WE'RE THE MILLERS
Warner Bros.
has finally released two trailers of the upcoming comedy WE'RE
THE MILLERS, which was scored by Theodore Shapiro and Ludwig
Goransson. You can watch the trailer below. The movie will be released on August
9th. According to the trailers the soundtrack album should
be released by WaterTower Music, but so far there is no confirmation
if it will be songs only, score only or a
combination of the two. More information coming soon...
May 17, 2013: NEW PROJECT:
ONE CHANCE
After having recently completed
his score for upcoming THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY,
Theodore Shapiro will re-unite with director David Frankel
scoring Frankel's new comedy ONE CHANCE. The film stars James
Corden, Alexandra Roach, Mackenzie Crook, Julie Walters and
Colm Meaney. The movie tells the true story of Paul Potts, a
bullied shop assistant, who performed as an amateur opera
singer at night and became a YouTube phenomenon following his
appearance on the reality show Britain's Got Talent in 2007.
The movie will be released later in 2013. The specific
release date has yet to be announced.
