HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THEODORE SHAPIRO date: September 29th,
2010 Theodore Shapiro is celebrating his
39th birthday today.
NEW CD : GIRL IN THE PARK date: September 15th,
2010 Girl in the
Park features Sigourney Weaver as a woman e
nduringly
traumatized by the disappearance of her 3-year-old daughter 15 years ago,
Julia Sandburg has cut herself off from anyone once near and dear to her,
including her husband Doug and her son Chris, who tried for years to
penetrate her wall of isolation and despair, without success. But when
Julia meets Louise, a troubled young woman with a checkered past, all
Julia's old psychic wounds painfully resurface, as does her illogical and
increasingly irrational hope that Louise may be the daughter she lost so
long ago.
Theodore
Shapiro composed a touching score incorporating various orchestral and
solo colours mixed with traditional jazz idioms that give the score unique
feel, which places Girl in the Parkamong his more serious, most classical and dramatic works.
Unfortunately the film, released in 2007, was a low-key drama that didn't
reach box office success. Therefore no album has been released so far
and the score is available as
bootleg only.
NEW CD : MYSTERIES OF PITTSBURGH date: August 31th,
2010 In 2008 Theodore Shapiro composed
probably his most touching score to date for an independent drama
about the last true summer of Art Bechstein (Jon Foster).Mysteries of Pittsburgh , set in early 1980s
featured impressive cast including Peter Sarsgaard, Sienna Miller, Nick
Nolte and Mena Suvari. Unfortunately the movie wasn't received well enough
to make score album commercialy viable. Fortunately the music
appeared only a few weeks ago floating in the collector's market. Feel
free to enjoy numerous samples from this beaufitul score ranging among the
very best unreleased works of Theodore Shapiro.
IDIOCRACY score videotribute date: August 21th,
2010
NEW CONCERT WORK: Theodore Shapiro will participate in
"Masters of Film Music" concert series
date: August 4th,
2010
Besides scoring upcomingThe Big Year, which is still several months from
its theatrical release, Theodore Shapiro is currently composing new
concert piece. In his own words:"Right now I'm
working on a piece for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra is
doing a series called "Masters Of Film Music", in which over two seasons
they will do six concerts highlighting the work of a different film
composer. The first half of the concert will be a newly commissioned work,
and the second half will be a retrospective of music I've written for
various films. The other composers involved are George Fenton, Michael
Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Harry Gregson Williams, and Sir Anthony
Hopkins, who hasn't scored films but who does compose."
NEW CDs: YOU, ME AND
DUPREE and DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS? date: August 4th, 2010 Two new score "albums" appeared recently in
the collector's circles. It's not entirely clear if these two albums can

NEW

director David Frankel will get original score from Theodore Shapiro who

successful The Devil Wears Prada and Marley and Me. The Big
Year features impressive cast including Owen Wilson, Steve Martin,
Jack Black, Angelica Huston, Rashida Jones, Brian Dennehy, Diane West,
Rosamund Pike and many others. The film is based on the book by Mark
Obmascik, which tells the story of three avid bird watchers who compete to
spot the rarest birds in North America at a prestigious annual event. The
film is currently in early post-production and probably won't be released
until the end of the year - no specific release date has been set so
far...

NEW SAMPLE:
JENNIFER´S BODY date: December 25th,
2009 One brief sample from Theodore
Shapiro´s unreleased score from horror-comedy Jennifer´s body has been
added to the samples in multimedia section. I have no idea where this

the soundtrack album. Anyway, it´s a pretty cool and modern score in
typical Shapiro fashion, so enjoy it while you can.
